Deutsch: Bandscheiben wirken als Stossdämpfer zwischen den Wirbeln. Durch Altersschwäche oder bei grosser Belastung kann der Faserring nachgeben und der gallertartige, weiche Kern wölbt sich in den Wirbelkanal und drückt so auf die Nervenstränge.
