Description Directly behind the operating console [center foreground[ was the Williams memory consisting of a bank of 37 cathode-ray tubes. On either side of the Williams memory was cabinets containing the control unit. Other cabinets in the left background contained the magnetic drum auxiliary memory and its control circuitry. In front of the magnetic drum was the punched-card input-output system, and on the right of the console was a paper-tape input unit.
