English: Saga Oseberg on the Byfjorden, a part of the Tønsbergfjorden fiord, in the harbour of Tønsberg, Norway (Tønsberg havn / Tønsberg Brygge / Gjestebrygga / Brygga). The ship is a 2012 built replica (kopi i full skala) of the Oseberg Ship (in Norwegian: Osebergskipet), a Viking ship from ca. AD 830 discovered in a burial mound near Tønsberg.

Photo taken on August 26th, 2019 showing a group of school children / students on board, sitting by the oars, rowing as the crew members manoeuvring the vessel and finally mooring it to the pier, viewed from the Kaldnes bro, a bascule footbridge (vippebru / gangbru). In the background are seen the board walk / dock on the town center side, with some yachts (fritidsbåter), tourists, restaurants, and the office building of Tønsbergs Blad, a local newspaper. Ship sizes in the Viking Age varied according to use. Trading vessels were broader and higher for cargo, warships longer and lower for speed. The Oseberg ship is a karve, a small type of longship used for war, ordinary transport and coasting, having a broad, shallow hull, a steering oar, bow and stern decorated with woodcarvings, etc. and equipped with both oars and a sail.
