Summary
editDescriptionSahel rain.svg |
English: Iso lines of annual rainfall (isohyetes) over the outlines of northern African countries (5°N to 25°N), only for rainfall values with relevance for the Sahel, from North to South: 50, 100, 150, 200, 300, 400, 500, 600, and 700 mm/a - filling with shades of blue and gray between 100 and 600 mm/a only, matching the predominant definition of the Sahel. Note that the lines are clipped in Eritrea (the East of Ethiopia does not belong to the Sahel) and that the shore of Arabia has been dropped. The repository of the data, geodata.grid.unep.ch, relates to FAO maps digitized in 1984. Not provided are the years averaged over and the interpolation procedure for rain-gauge and possibly satellite data.
