愛媛県 西条市 の祭礼「西条祭り」の楽車(だんじり)の内部。 山車型の屋台には珍しく「 担ぐ 」ことを前提とした構造のため 透かし彫りの飾り面で覆われた内部はほぼ完全な空洞となっているが 構造自体は非常に頑強で壊れにくく､奉納中の激しい揺れや衝撃にも耐えうる工夫がされている。 これは歴年の楽車大工の伝統技巧の結晶であり、その意味では楽車を飾る彫刻と並び 隠れた芸術品と呼ぶべき非常にレベルの高い工芸品でもある。 |
