Description

PADANG, Indonesia (Aug. 23, 2016) Cam Tran (left), pediatrician, from San Francisco, a returning Project Hope volunteer, and Lt. Amy Zucharo, from Gainesville, Virginia, attached to USNS Mercy (T-AH 19), participate in a Pacific Partnership 2016 community health promotion and education program at Pasar Laban Elementary School, in Padang, Indonesia. Tran and other Pacific Partnership personnel showed over 200 local children the importance of oral hygiene, hydration and exercise. This is the fifth time Pacific Partnership has visited Indonesia. Partner Nations are working side-by-side with local organizations during disaster response training, civil engineering projects, Women, Peace and Security seminars, medical subject matter expert exchanges and a live field training exercise aimed at improving the capacity of local government, civilian agencies and partner militaries to collectively respond in crisis.
