English: Bronze Doors to St. Andrew's House, South of Regent Road, Edinburgh. 1938. Architect Thomas S. Tait of John Burnet, Tait and Lorne. Doors signed and dated 1938. The building accommodated at that time the principal departments of the Scottish Office. The relief has the cross of St. Andrew in background. Lower centre: depiction of Jesus calling St. Andrew with inscription, "And I will make you Fishers of Men". Also depictions of St. Ninian, St. Kentigern, St. Columba and St. Magnus. Work conceived and designed by Walter Gilbert; modelling by his son Donald Gilbert. Donald was no doubt inspired by his own Scottish ancestry (via his mother Ina MacGeogh). Bronze casting by H. H. Martyn of Cheltenham. https://www.scribd.com/doc/17256374/Walter-Gilbert-Main-Inventory
