Description

The first sight for my 2009 Paris visit: Sainte-Chapelle, which had completely awed me during my very first Paris visit in 1998.

Details of a saint and wall decorations.

While most of the stained glass is original, most of the rest of the chapel is reconstruction from the 19th Century. Much of this royal chapel had been destroyed during the French Revolution, and restoration was faithfully done based on historical records.

I am loving the fleur-de-lis motif, familiar to me from French parts of North America such as Quebec and Louisiana.
