Title |
Salle des pas perdus de la nouvelle entrée du Palais de justice, vue de Harlay, achevée en 1868 par M. Duc, architecte |

Description |
The name of this entranceway - "Salle des pas perdus" - could have two meanings in French. Either it is the room of the "un-lost" or the room of "lost footsteps." The former would signify a remembrance of the dead and the latter would refer refer either to the acoustics of the room, which presumably muffles the sound of footsteps, or the "lost" steps taken around a room while one is waiting. The new Palais was designed by the architect Mr. Duc and completed in 1868. |
