Hull August 29th – 1824
I took pasage [passage] in the Brig
Capt Skarbrough [Scarborough] for Hamburg in
Jerminey [Germany] on the Continent to try my
fortune thair [there] I arived [arrived] on that glorious
Day coled [called] the forth of Julye [July]which
Evereay true Sitison [citizen] of Columbis [Columbus] hapy [happy]
Land shood [should] bair [bear]in mind and rember [remember]
On that day She Shook off the yoke
Off a tiranikall [tyrannical] goverment [government] and freaid [freed]
Hur self [herself] of many embarizements [embarrassments] that
Is imposed on hur [her] mother Cuntrey [country]
When I contemplate on the imposition that
The Subjukes [subjects] of this old Cuntrey [country] labors
Under I have the gratior [greater?] hart[heart] to
Astoll [extol] that land Cold [called] America and
Hur [her] free suns [sons] that reside their [there] on
Who no [know] not the want of liberty.
