Rock outcrop surrounded by evergreen and fall-colored broadleaved trees.

Part of the Rove Formation, the layered rock outcrop is the oldest sedimentary rock on Lake Superior's North Shore. The evergreen trees are part of the southern reaches of the North American "boreal" forest. The fall-colored trees are the eastern broadleaf forest at their northern reaches.
