Description
English: These sandstone arches are the main entrance to the Casa de la Encomiend. This complex of buildings were constructed during the christian occupation of the Alcazaba by the order of Santiago. The Encomienda dependency relation system was based on the Reconquista institution in which adelantados were given the right to extract tribute from Muslims or other peasants in areas that they had conquered and resettled.
