Summary edit
DescriptionSandstone at Tyrley Locks cutting, Staffordshire - geograph.org.uk - 1606371.jpg |
English: Sandstone at Tyrley Locks cutting, Staffordshire. The Shropshire Union Canal approaches the bottom of the five locks by cutting directly into and through the red sandstone bedrock. The approach to the lock is lined with tall mature trees so is gloomy and damp except when the sun manages to shine across in the afternoons, making high light contrast on the exposed rock face awkward to photograph effectively. |
