English: The Sandusky State Theatre, 107 Columbus Avenue at West Water Street, Sandusky, Ohio, December 2020. A delightful Mission Revival-style structure, the building was constructed in 1928 and, under the name of the Schine Theatre, hosted vaudeville variety shows and screened films from the golden age of Hollywood with the accompaniment of a Golden Voiced Marvel pipe organ, which was sold off to a collector from Detroit in 1961 to help keep the theater afloat during the lean years of the 1960s, '70s and '80s. Its 1988 listing on the National Register of Historic Places enabled its sale to a nonprofit and conversion to a multifaceted performing arts venue focused on musical and theatrical performances, as well as a campaign of restoration that will eventually see the theater returned to its former architectural glory - a process that suffered a major setback during a June 2020 windstorm that caused a partial roof collapse, damage to the exterior walls, and extensive interior damage, which was being repaired at the time this photo was taken.
