English: The Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite (VIIRS) on the Suomi NPP satellite acquired this natural-color image of Hurricane Sandy, with a well defined eye like feature on 17:50 Universal Time(UTC) on the evening of October 28, 2012. Because it was captured in the evening, the sun was at a lower angle, which caused Sandy to appear pink. |
