Description
Deutsch: Die St.-Jakobi-Kirche ist die evangelisch-lutherische Hauptkirche der niedersächsischen Kreisstadt Peine. Sie befindet sich zentral an der Fußgängerzone. Die neugotische Saalkirche wurde von 1896 bis 1899 nach Plänen von Eberhard Hillebrand erbaut. Die Kirche ist ein nordnordöstlich ausgerichteter einschiffiger Sandsteinquaderbau mit schmalem Langhaus. Im Südsüdwesten befindet sich der schlanke Turm über quadratischem Grundriss mit zwei niedrigen, flankierenden Treppentürmen. Das Uhrwerk wurde aus der alten Kirche übernommen (1872 Firma J. W. Weule, Bockenem) und 1990 durch eine elektrische Uhr ersetzt. Insgesamt gibt es vier Ziffernblätter mit zwei Uhrschlagglocken.
