Description
English: Bronze statue of the composer Philipp Jakob Riotte (1776-1856) at the Fruchtmarkt square in St. Wendel, created by Kurt Tassotti. The sculpture, located near Riotte's birthplace at Am Fruchtmarkt No. 3, was erected in 2016. While modelling the features of Riotte, Tassotti took orientation from a portrait of Riotte's brother Johann, since no known portraits of the composer have come down to us. The statue is part of the art project "Walkable History of the cCty" for which Tassotti has created no less than five sculptures of personalities relevant to the history of St. Wendel since 2008.
