Description
Italiano: Mentre la facciata attuale segue un tracciato ad quadratum di 26 braccia lucchesi di lato (rappresentato a tratteggio), quella originaria (più bassa ed evidenziata in rosso)doveva seguire un tracciato ad triangulum. La figura base, come si deduce dalle parti conservate, doveva essere un triangolo equilatero approssimato di 15x13 (e i suoi multipli), impiegato per la praticità di applicazione, già conosciuto nell'antichità (Erone di Alessandria, l'agrimensore romano Columella) e citato da papa Silvestro II, attorno all'anno 1000, nella corrispondenza con il vescovo Adelboldo e nel trattato De geometria (Caput XLIX).
