English: 2012 BMW 528i saloon - 1,997 cc straight-4 engine and twin scroll turbo (180 kW; 242 bhp).
When hiring a car in the US, I usually make a point choosing an american model. Unfortunately, the only available choices were Korean (which I am not a great fan of, sorry...) or this beauty (biased? me...?). This is a great car all-round but I was a tiny bit disappointed that BMW swapped the straight 6 engine of the previous 528i's for a twin-turbo 4 cylinder... Meaning the 128i, taken earlier, has a bigger engine than this executive saloon. What it lacks in "melody" it makes up in economy, especially with the stop/start (I can't believe I am saying that...). Anyway: great drive and the car was still flying anytime my right foot got heavy. |
