Este sencillo rollo con la figura de San Roque grabada en piedra recuerda la existencia antaño de la pequeña ermita de San Roque.

Bajo la dirección del arquitecto municipal don Atilano Rodríguez Collado y con la aportación económica de los vecinos del Sardinero, en este lugar se construyó una ermita que fue puesta bajo la advocación de San Roque inaugurándole en 1872.

En 1906, fue ampliada ante el continuo aumento de la población.

El nuevo desarrollo urbanístico de la zona en el que se preveía el ensanche de la calle, obligó a su demolición que se realizó en 1936.

En sustitución de la ermita se levantó una iglesia al final de la Alameda de Cacho siguiendo los planos del arquitecto municipal don Ramiro Sainz Martínez, abriendo sus puertas el 19 de marzo de 1944.
