| Description | Documentat des de finals del segle X, l'edifici actual fou aixecat per iniciativa de l'industrial Esteve Monegal entre 1867 i 1870. Fou reformada encara el 1901 després de patir un incendi el 1891. La tradició popular i pietosa, que no la Història, ens respon que la causa va ser la trobada miraculosa d’una imatge de la Verge per part d’un bou, qui va estar gratant el terra amb la pota i bramant, per tres dies consecutius, per fer descobrir al pastor una cova soterrada, on hi havia una bella imatge de Sta. Maria.La notícia, proclamada amb l’autoritat del Prior de St. Llorenç de Morunys, va córrer com el llamp per tota la comarca i aquella bona gent, moguda pel seu amor a la Mare de Déu es va aplegar a la Mola per a contemplar i venerar a tan majestuosa veïna seva que, com tresor amagat honrava les seves terres.No van trigar a construir un altar on col·locar la imatge trobada i tot seguit una petita capella d’una sola nau. |
