Description
English: Sarn Gynfelyn A most important feature in the folklore of Wales, Sarn Gynfelyn is said to be the causeway to the submerged kingdom of Caer Gwyddno. The scientific explanation is that it is glacial moraine resulting from the last glaciation and composed entirely of boulders, cobbles and pebbles mixed with various grades of sediments. In this view Sarn Gynfelyn is mostly obscured by the high tide. The end of Sarn Gynfelyn is about seven miles out to sea and is supposed to be the site of Caerwyddno, the city of Gwyddno. Apparently, this is a patch of shallower water through which great boulders in the shape of foundation stones can be made out at low tide.
