English: Saughton Skatepark takes shape Here at last, after twenty years of campaigning, Edinburgh's skateboarding fraternity is about to enjoy a new skateboarding/BMX facility which will be the biggest of its kind in Britain. Previous proposals to site it at the West Meadows or Inverleith Park foundered on the objections of local residents. The Park, scheduled to open in early May 2010, is expected to attract visitors from across Britain and abroad. Sadly, the Council's procrastination over two decades has meant that the youngsters who first pleaded for the facility are now too old to use it. |
