Geysers are hot springs that episodically erupt columns of water. They occur in few places on Earth. The highest concentration of geysers anywhere is in the Yellowstone Hotspot Volcano (northwestern Wyoming, USA). Sawmill Geyser is the namesake of the Sawmill Group in Yellowstone's Upper Geyser Basin. It is a frequently erupting fountain-type geyser, typically with long durations. Eruptions consist of brief but overlapping, medium-sized spikes of water. As of late January 2017, Sawmill Geyser has become dormant, which is unusual. |
