editDescriptionSchools at West Bromwich by TA Picken.jpg |
Lithograph by Thomas Picken (b.1818). It is titled, Schools Erected by Messrs John Bagnall & Sons at Golds Hill, West Bromwich, in Connexion with their Collieries and Iron Works. The location is Birmingham, Warwickshire, England. This design may have remained unbuilt, and was possibly one of the designs for an 1862 schools development (Details here). Note the mill chimneys in the background, and two church spires. There are rail lines on the road, with a horse pulling two wagons along the rails. Men are using an A-frame and winch to lift an iron wheel onto a wagon. |
