| Description |
English: Schools Class 925 Cheltenham at York RailFest 10-06-2012. Maunsell's 4-4-0 masterpiece. Built from 1930-34 the class V's were all named after public schools and upon scrapping most of the nameplates were given to the respective schools. Fortunately three survived into preservation, Repton, Stowe and Cheltenham. Their power for their size is well renowned. They were a cut down version of the Lord Nelsons for use on lines with a lower loading gauge and yet proved to have a comparable tractive effort. |
