Summary edit

Description

The front facade of the former Schous Bryggeri in Oslo, wedged in between the street Thorvald Meyers gate (heading up to the left) and Trondheimsveien (right).

Schous Bryggeri was by founded Christian Julius Schou in 1821 but moved to this location in 1873. It remained here, giving name to the square, for a hundred years. In 1978, Schous Bryggeri was bought by Nora, the owner of Ringnes, who closed down the brewery three years later. In 1981, when the brewery closed, it was the oldest existing brewery in Norway - a title now held by Aass Bryggeri in Drammen.
