Summary
editDescriptionSchwaebischer-Vulkan Neuffener-Steige-(Wendenberg) Schwaebische-Alb.jpg |
English: “Wendenberg E Valcano”. Tuff and straight Upper-Jurassic of a small diatreme outcrop on the Swabian Alb in 680m. The rest of the diatreme forms a circle of ca. 100m. The volcano was active only in Miocene (17-11 Mill. years). It was a volcano with phreatomagmatic eruptions. This outcrop is the most illustrative example of the „Schwäbischer Vulkan“. It shows how the hot pyroclasts (ash, lapilli, volcanic bombs) blast the White Jurassic (Malm delta). The crude rock fragments in the gray volcanic Tuff (not the yellowish rubble) are foreign rocks, which were blast out but fell back. |
