Description
English: Scots pine This is a pine tree, not a fir tree. Fir trees never colonised Scotland after the last ice age, so all those fir trees that you see are planted by people. The Scots pine used to cover most of Scotland but for the last 2000 years people have been cutting them down for wood or to make space for farms, or burning them down.
