English: Sculpture AS OMAGH'S Strule Arts Centre welcomed its imposing new sculptural centre-piece, `TreeLines', commissioned artist Chris Wilson was delighted to see his work taking root in the heart of town. Chairman of Omagh District Council, Sean Begley, also expressed his delight at the installation of the £63,000 sculpture. A substantial seven metres tall, and weighing in at two-and-a-half tonnes, the stainless steel structure was commissioned by Omagh District Council just last October.
The artist, originally from the Belfast area, based his sculpture on the theme of connections, both between people and places, noting the inter-connection of families and localities, and the naming of places by people. |
