Summary edit

Description
English: The San people's family lifestyle. This is how they lived.

DIGGING INTO THE PAST Archaeological excavation of this shelter show that hunter-gatherers lived here from at least 5,000 years ago until the nineteenth century. This section through the deposits that built up over time is a "window" into the past.

The layers at the bottom are the oldest and those at the top are the most recent. The artefacts change over time, showing that the hunter-gatherers had contact with Black farmers and European colonists more recently. Other people who used the shelter once hunter-gatherers stopped coming here also left artefacts.
