English: Semaphore Railway Signal A semaphore railway signal at Pantyffynnon railway station, part of the Heart Of Wales railways. Semaphore signals are rapidly becoming a rare sight on UK railways, with the electric light signals, which need less maintenance replacing them.
A weighted counterbalance can be seen just below the signal itself. This is designed to default to the "stop" signal should the cable controlling the signal break. |
