한국어: 전탑은 불에 구운 벽돌을 쌓아 제작한 탑으로 우리나라에서는 보기 드문 형태이다. 일반적으로 신라 시대에 만들어지기 시작하여 고려 초까지 특정 지역을 중심으로 유행한 것으로 보인다. 안양사 7층 전탑은 고려 말기의 학자이자 관료인 이숭인(1347년~1392년)의 『금주안양사탑중신기衿州安養寺塔重新記』에 따르면 태조 왕건에 의해 세워졌다고 기록되었다. 또한 오랜 세월이 지나 탑이 퇴락하였으므로 문하시중 최영(1316년~1388년)崔瑩과 주지 혜겸惠謙 대사와 더불어 개수하여 새롭게하였다고 한다. 개수 낙성식에는 왕이 향을 내리고, 승려 1천명이 불사에 참석했다. 탑 속에는 사리 12, 불아 1개를 안치했고, 시주자는 3천명이었다. 탑에 단청을 장식하고 상을 그렸다. 탑 안 동서남북과 각 4면과 회랑 12칸에는 벽마다 상 하나씩을 그리니 곧 십이행년불이다. 일꾼은 4백이다. 이러한 기록으로 보아 안양사 7층 전탑의 장엄 뿐만 아니라 사찰과 탑의 규모가 컸다는 것을 짐작할 수 있다. |
