English: Sheep Grazing at College Lake To encourage wildlife compatible with the old ways of farming, the growth of vegetation is controlled, where possible, using sheep and cattle.
The area beside that part of the quarry was quarried leaving a shelf. Originally this was bare chalk but vegetation has started to establish itself under grazing by sheep. (College Lake Nature Reserve http://www.bbowt.org.uk/content.asp?did=23523) |
