English: Sheep crossing Moor Bridge, Penn Common, New Forest This track goes from Penn Common to Canada Common via Moor Bridge. Moor Bridge Farm is to the right, beyond the bridge. The Bramshaw Commons are owned by the National Trust and common grazing is encouraged in order to manage the heathland. In a 1991 biological evaluation the National Trust read "Any significant introduction of sheep grazing would be cause for concern. Sheep are likely to damage the heath. They should be positively discouraged by any means possible." These are the only sheep I've seen on the common - I don't know what the NT's current policy is. |
