English: Shepreth: Meldreth Road level crossing A fast London-bound train has just passed over the crossing which is between Shepreth and Meldreth stations. The number of the train before someone asks... 365530.
A propos of nothing really I checked the National Rail timetable for trains along this route and slow trains take 3 minutes between Shepreth and Meldreth stations. However if you have the misfortune to miss the 23:32 departure from Shepreth to Meldreth on a Saturday night, National Rail recommend for this journey getting the 01:20 train to Cambridge from Shepreth (in the opposite direction to the way you want to travel), which arrives in Cambridge at 01:39, then waiting for nearly 6 hours before getting the 07:15 fast from Cambridge which then whizzes back past both Shepreth and Meldreth without stopping to reach Letchworth Garden City at 07:42, then getting the 07:48 slow from Lecthworth back towards Cambridge which arrives at 08:04 at Meldreth, a total journey time of 6 hours and 44 minutes, or 8 hours and 32 minutes if you count the time waiting on Shepreth station from 23:32 until 01:20. Computers? Don't you just love 'em? Anyone fancy a midnight stroll? |
