Description The U.S. Navy Task Force 88, with the aircraft carrier USS Tarawa (CVS-40), leaves Rio den Janeiro, Brazil, in 1958. ALL HANDS in 1958 states TF 88 was a special anti-submarine warfare task group with an additional task of obtaining hydrographical data. In reality, TF 88 was part of "Operation Argus", a series of nuclear weapons tests and missile tests secretly conducted during August and September 1958 over the South Atlantic Ocean.
