Side Theatre

Summary edit

Description
English: It was built in the 2nd century, so is of Roman design, but the architect used the Greek style of letting the auditorium stretch for 30 degrees more than the (Roman style) 180 degrees. The stage building must have been wonderfully adorned, but the decorations are now heavily damaged. This is partly due to a heavy earthquake. In the 5th or 6th century it was used as an open air church. This is part of the skene, unfortunately what must have been a wonderful frieze has been heavily damaged.
