Description
English: Sir William Wyndham, 1st Baronet (1633–1683), of Orchard Wyndham, Somerset. The 5th Baronet's mother was Lady Catherine Seymour, a sister of the 7th Duke of Somerset, through whom he inherited Petworth House in 1750. Provenance: accepted by HM Treasury, 1956, in lieu of death duties on the estate of Charles Henry Wyndham, 3rd Lord Leconfield, of Petworth House, transferred to the National Trust.
