Description
English: View east across the tracks of the Durham Coast Line at the site of Easington station. The former down (northbound) platform would have ran along the near side of the tracks and historic maps suggest there was a station building at approximately the centre of the shot on this side of the them. The up (southbound) platform would have been located on the far side of the tracks and appears to have also had a building on it, approximately opposite that of the down platform. In the immediate foreground, the overgrown land marks the site of where sidings diverged from the main line towards Easington Colliery (behind the photographer). Easington station closed on 4 May 1964.
