| Description |
English: Site of former Tollesbury Pier station The gate and bushes mark the site of Tollesbury Pier station which was the terminus of the former Kelvedon & Tollesbury Light Railway. The line was closed in stages: the Tollesbry Pier section closed to passengers in 1921 and the rest of the line from Kelvedon to Tollesbury lost its passenger service in 1951. Freight survived on the Kelvedon to Tiptree section until 1965. Tollesbury Pier itself lay several metres behind the photographer. |
