English: Captured on the summer solstice, June 21st 2022. Apollo Lasky was able to timelapse an incredible tornado on the solar limb. Twisting and turbulent threads and ribbons of calcium plasma can be seen white hot moving with incredible speeds. This storm is large enough to engulf the earth. A 127mm x 1200m telescope was used with a Basler Aca1920-155um monochrome camera magnified by a 2x barlow. A Skybender optical tilt module equipped with the narrowest CaK filter in the world was used to filter all but a single wavelength of just 0.5angstroms wide centered at 393.37nm. This is called the K3 core in spectroscopy. |
