Summary edit

Description

Fallen timber takes longer to decay in this Canadian Arctic region due to fewer wood-decaying fungi being present (Mattsson et al. 2010, 6). The softer bark has decayed and fallen of leaving an appearance of driftwood to the branches.

Mattsson, Johan, Anne-Cathrine Flyen, and Maria Nunez, 2010. "Wood-decaying fungi in protected buildings and structures on Svalbard." AGARICA 29:5-14.
