Description
Nederlands: Het Dokkanaal werd tussen 1818 en 1820 gegraven. De Zeedoksluis was voor die tijd de enige toegang tot het Natte Dok. Het Dokkanaal ligt tussen het Natte Dok en de Koopvaardersbinnenhaven / Noord Hollandskanaal. Via de Zeedoksluis kwam zeewater het Natte Dok binnen en via het Dokkanaal kwam het brakke water ook in het Noord-Hollandskanaal tot verdriet van de boeren. Dit verklaart de naam van de brug over het Dokkanaal, Boerenverdrietbrug. In 1858 werd de oude sluis gesloopt en het Dokkanaal verbreed. In mei 1861 werd de nieuwe sluis in gebruik genomen.
