Description
English: Smith House, Lightcliffe, Hipperholme. The Smyth family lived at an earlier house on this site from the 14C, and the present house is a late medieval timber-framed house, encased in stone in 1672. The early house had an open hall and a cross-wing to its left. In the 17C the cross-wing contained two parlours, and a cross-wing was built of stone at the other end, containing a dining room and kitchen.. It was later owned by the Holmes family, from 1699 to 1785.
