This image shows full detail of the neck, mouth, trunk and tusk of the neck of a bull elephant shot by Fénykövi. The image was sent to Dr. Remington Kellogg, director of the United States National Museum, now known as the National Museum of Natural History, on March 8, 1958, by Josef J. Fénykövi. Fénykövi sent images of a bull elephant he had shot in Africa seven years earlier to help the USNM taxidermists mount for display in the Rotunda of the Natural History building the 2-ton elephant hide donated by Fénykövi to the Smithsonian Full description |
