| Description |
A tiny, wonderful road in Smoky Mountain National Park. I think the road is called Cherokee Orchard Road, although it might be called "Roaring Fork Motor Nature Trail". Either way, it was a lovely, peaceful route into the Smokies and away from the chaos of Gatlinburg. I hiked up to Grotto Falls from a trailhead along the way, which was perhaps the high point of my visit to the Smokies. Map of location. [later edit: This is Roaring Fork Motor Nature Trail (it's called a trail but it's really a road). Cherokee Orchard Road leads from Gatlinburg into the national park to the start of Roaring Fork] |
