English: Burying the entrance plaza in front of the New York Central Terminal on the East Side of Buffalo, New York is a massive pile of ice and snow that had been removed from city streets after a historic December 2022 blizzard that brought four feet of snow, hurricane-force winds and whiteout conditions to the city - in the words of Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz, "the worst storm in [the] community's history, surpassing the Blizzard of '77". The commission tasked with the restoration of the the historic Art Deco train station later requested that the city stop placing snow on the plaza, due to concerns of structural damage to the subterranean parking ramp under the immense weight of the pile; dump trucks were then rerouted to the city-owned property next door at 59 Memorial Drive. |
