The Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) on board NASA’s Terra satellite acquired a true-color image of snow across Wisconsin, Iowa, and Minnesota on that same day.

Description
English: Each winter, fast-moving low pressure systems move southeast out of Canada, bringing snow, strong winds, and cold temperatures to the United States. On November 16-17, 2018, cold air from an early Alberta Clipper brought a swath of snow stretching across Nebraska, Iowa, and northern Illinois and a larger swath across southern Minnesota, north-central Iowa and southern Wisconsin. According to the National Weather Service forecast office in Des Moines, Iowa, widespread snow totals reached 2 to 4 inches across the state. By November 18 the storm clouds had faded allowing a clear view of the fresh-fallen snow. The Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) on board NASA’s Terra satellite acquired a true-color image of snow across Wisconsin, Iowa, and Minnesota on that same day. In the east the blue waters of Lake Michigan contrast with the snowy scene. In the south a remnant bank of cloud hovers above the scene.
