Notes En esta Vista de Valparaíso (título que figura en la placa de metal en el marco del óleo; en la ficha de papel en la pared figura como Panorámica de Valparaíso), del pintor inglés Somerscales, se aprecia perfectamente la que hoy es avenida Argentina. En la Pinacoteca de Concepción hay otro cuadro de Somerscales con el mismo nombre (44 X 67 cm), pero pintado desde otro punto; el Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes en Santiago tiene una Vista de Valparaíso desde el Cerro Barón (1980; 61 x 104 cm), mientras que en colecciones particulares hay una Vista a Valaparaíso (57 x 93 cm) y dos Panorámica de la bahía de Valparaíso: 1871, 45 x 76 cm y 1882, 71 x 125 cm (todos ellos están reproducidos en el álbum Thomas Somerscales. Pintor de célebres marinas y serenos paisajes, publicado en 2008 por Origo Ediciones en su colección Pintura Chilena del Siglo XIX)
